A charming, little-known tributary of the North Umpqua, the Little River tumbles out of a long canyon full of hidden waterfalls. If you only have time to discover one, head for Wolf Creek Falls. The 1.3-mile creekside trail there is ideal for hikers with children. Waterfall connoisseurs will want to round out the day by driving upriver to visit three more cascades at the ends of short trails.

From Interstate 5, take Roseburg exit 124 and follow . . .

To find the final waterfall, walk back . . .   This cascade fans out like silver hair—and in fact Yakso means “hair” in Chinook jargon, the old trade language of Northwest Indians.
