Two new trails explore Whychus Creek, the stream that flows through Sisters. One path is just south of town, in a forest canyon with a spectacular logjam waterfall. The other trail is just north of town, in a rimrock desert canyon with ancient junipers and a section of the historic Santiam Wagon Road. Both trails can be icy or muddy in winter, and can be hot in midsummer.

To find the Whychus Creek Trail upstream of Sisters, drive Highway  ... The other hike, on the north side of Sisters, tours the 450-acre Whychus Canyon Preserve purchased by the Deschutes Land Trust in 2010. To find the trailhead, drive east from downtown Sisters . . .
