In the midst of the city but shielded by a 100-foot cliff, the animals in this riverside wildlife refuge don’t seem to realize they’re in a metropolis.  As you hike the trail around these wetlands you’re almost certain to see ducks, beaver-gnawed trees, and great blue herons calmly fishing for frogs.  But wildlife watching isn’t the only reason this trip is a hit with families.  At the far end of the loop you can visit Oaks Park, an old-timey carnival midway complete with kiddy rides and refreshment stands.
