This demanding portion of the Pacific Crest Trail climbs through a forest burned in a 2003 fire to an alpine viewpoint on the unburned slopes beneath Three Fingered Jack’s summit crags. Experienced hikers comfortable with a short cross-country scramble can return on a slightly longer loop trail past Martin, Booth, and Square Lakes.
