Surf rumbles through sea caves in these three monumental rocks, the largest of a cluster of islands between two scenic, rarely visited beaches. Rusting metal at Frankport Beach recalls a dock used from 1893 to 1905 to ship locally gathered tanoak bark to the S.H. Frank leather tannery in San Francisco.  Sause Brothers Ocean Towing bought the old port in 1955 and quarried rock there until 1983.  In the early 21st century, state lottery funds saved this land as an undeveloped park.
