A seemingly magic resource allowed the Klamath tribe to live like kings—a waterfall at the outlet of Upper Klamath Lake, where salmon returned year after year. Tiwishkeni, or the “rush-of-falling-waters-place,” has not been entirely lost amidst the city of Klamath Falls. Along the Link River trail from Upper Klamath Lake you can still expect to see pelicans and ruddy ducks. And although the path passes a freeway, a walk here still seems sheltered by wildness and magic.
