Wildflowers and vistas line this spectacular, often overlooked portion of the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness’s ridgecrest. The chief destination here is Abbott Butte, where an abandoned lookout tower straddles a small cabin. But an equally interesting goal is Elephanthead Pond, in the shadow of an enormous, elephant-shaped cliff.
