In this beautiful but often overlooked corner of the Siskiyous you can trace a mountain brook to a forested pass, and then follow the Boundary Trail through a huge meadow to a nameless viewpoint peak. Backpackers can continue for days in any of three directions: north to Grayback Mountain, south into the Red Buttes Wilderness, or west to the Oregon Caves National Monument. Incredibly, motorcycles are allowed in this fragile subalpine area; fortunately, they are rare.
