The three completed segments of the Fremont Trail ramble more than 100 miles across south-central Oregon, through sagebrush desert, ponderosa pine forests, and high mountain meadows. Sample the trail’s variety with a day trip along Crooked Creek, in the quiet Drake Peak area northeast of Lakeview. If you can arrange a car shuttle, the trip’s all downhill. If you lack a shuttle, you can still explore either the upper or the lower end of Crooked Creek’s canyon.
