Like its more famous cousin Black Butte, Hager Mountain is a charming little volcano with a summit trail that climbs through wildflowers to a panoramic fire lookout. But because Black Butte lies in a heavily trafficked area near Bend, its trail draws as many as a hundred people a day, while hardly a dozen people a week make their way to Hager Mountain’s scenic summit.
