Frog Pond

Frog Pond

  • Easy (to Middle Fork Applegate bridge)
  • 2.4 miles round-trip
  • 400 feet elevation gain
  • Open except in winter storms
  • Use: hikers, horses

  • Moderate (to Frog Pond)
  • 7.9-mile loop
  • 1800 feet elevation gain

The first of these two hikes is an easy stroll along the Middle Fork Applegate River to a swimmable pool, some log cabin ruins, and a scenic footbridge in an old-growth forest. The second, steeper trail loops past Frog Pond through subalpine Wilderness meadows. Backpackers can connect the two paths for a more challenging tour.
