Eddeeleo Lakes
Moderate 9.2 miles round trip
700 feet elevation gain
Open mid-June through October
Use: hikers, horses
Left: Long Lake
Ed, Dee, and Leo were three early Forest Service employees who hiked into this string of lakes to plant fish. Hikers have been carrying fish the other way ever since. Note that the path leads downhill to the lakes, leaving the elevation gain for the return trip. Along the way, the route emerges once from the hemlock forests for a view of the Three Sisters. Expect rhododendron blooms in June, buzzing mosquitoes in July, and delicious blue huckleberries in August.
