Protect the Owyhee Canyonlands! This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, but Oregon has designated only 4% of the state as Wilderness. California has set aside 15% of that state as Wilderness, and even Idaho has protected 8%. We may think we're good at preservation, but we are way behind. With the Owyhee Canyonlands proposal of the Oregon Natural Desert Association (www.onda.org), we could add 2% in one whack. Why haven't we done this before? Because most Oregonians don't know what treasures are at risk in our high desert. Click here to learn more and get involved.
