Two stellar hiking destinations lie hidden in the maze of gravel roads that laces the Andrews Experimental Forest behind Blue River. A relatively easy mile-long trail up to Carpenter Mountain’s staffed lookout passes wildflower meadows and breathtaking views of the High Cascades. A rougher path through Lookout Creek’s valley boasts giant trees and a footbridge at a lovely creek crossing.
